ELECTIVE COURSES

Technical Elective (TE) Courses

Aerospace Engineering students have to take 5 Technical Elective (TE) courses during their undergraduate education. Only one of them can be taken from another department. Only AEE 3XX and AEE 4XX level courses can be taken as a Technical Elective (TE) course. Non-AEE Technical Elective courses must be approved by the undergraduate program committee before the advisor approval.

AEE Restricted Elective (RE) Courses

Aerospace Engineering students have to take 2 Restricted Elective (RE) Courses during their undergraduate education in the 4th Year selected from the specific lists of TE courses: 1 Restricted Technical Elective (*) (RTE*) course and 1 Restricted Technical Elective (**) (RTE**) course from the corresponding list of TE courses as given below:

  • AEE Restricted Technical Elective (*) - (RTE*) Course - One of the following 4th Year technical elective courses:
    • AEE 435 (3-0)3 Propulsion Systems II (Prereq: AEE 338)

Non-Technical Elective (NTE) Courses

Aerospace Engineering students have to take 2 Non-Technical Elective (NTE) courses during their undergraduate education. Registration to a Non-Technical Elective (NTE) course requires the approval of the course instructor and the related department. For the approval process, a form needs to be signed by the student's advisor. Having the approval of the instructor and satisfying the prerequisites students may take any of the courses announced below:

Free Elective (FE) Courses

Aerospace Engineering students have to take 1 Free Elective (FE) course during their undergraduate education. All the courses offered in METU can be considered as a Free Elective course provided that they are of at least 3 credits. To take the course the approval of the instructor may be needed.
